Andru Branch & Halfway Tree, Reggaddiction and DJ Friendlyness of The Human Rights come together for a night celebrating the depth, history, and future of reggae in Canada. All three acts are 2026 Reggae North Music Awards nominees for Group of the Year, making this a particularly special night for Canadian reggae fans. ANDRU BRANCH & HALFWAY TREE (Halifax, NS)

Award-winning Canadian reggae artists Andru Branch & Halfway Tree have spent more than three decades carrying the torch for authentic roots reggae. Named after Kingston, Jamaica's legendary music district, Branch has recorded with members of The Wailers, collaborated with Ziggy Marley's rhythm section, and earned a Juno nomination for his debut album What If I Told You. Their uplifting songs of peace, unity, and social justice have made them one of Canada's most respected reggae acts, with performances spanning major festivals and stages across Canada and Jamaica.

REGGADDICTION (Toronto, ON)

Reggaddiction brings modern energy to classic roots reggae. Known for rich vocal harmonies, deep grooves, and an infectious live show, the band has shared the stage with reggae legends including Sister Nancy and Macka B while appearing at festivals such as Do West Fest, Peterborough Folk Festival, Jamaica Day, and Kingsville Music Festival. Their acclaimed album Ganja Harvest reimagines Neil Young's Harvest through a reggae lens, earning international praise and CBC airplay.

DJ FRIENDLYNESS

DJ Friendlyness is one of the most respected voices in Canadian reggae, with a career spanning decades as a singer, MC, selector, and cultural ambassador. A foundational figure in Toronto's reggae scene, he is the co-lead vocalist of The Human Rights, who have shared stages with reggae legends including The Wailers, Gregory Isaacs, Beres Hammond, John Holt, and Freddie McGregor.

A former member of Big Sugar, Culture Shock, and Truths & Rights, Friendlyness also helped pioneer Toronto's sound system culture as the frontman of SuperHeavy Reggae, known for its powerful blend of live dub, roots reggae, and uplifting community energy. With his unmistakable voice, positive message, and deep roots in Jamaican music culture, DJ Friendlyness continues to be a driving force in Canada's reggae movement.
